The well-appointed house is a subject of some controversy, which explains how there might be long-running magazines and even TV shows devoted to exploring every variety of decor possible.
Wine racks in the kitchen?
Why not the bedroom?
Indeed, part of the appeal of such magazines and TV shows may lie in the utter creativity or, even, extravagence that is available.
Obviously, such unconventional interiors would hardly warrant the description – nay, title – of “well-appointed” in such magazines or television programs but, hey, who’s to say that something like wine racks don’t belong in the bathroom?
All things considered, why shouldn’t one enjoy a nice glass right together with a hot bubble bath?
Frivolous, yes, perhaps, but such is the flight of fancy that is creativeness and the imagination at work.
After all, to continue with our illustration, wine racks themselves have now undergone a most radical reinterpretation, with designs that are both humorous and strange.
Without a doubt, they have gone from being useful furniture to something merely decorative, the way many people keep bookshelves full of books which they don’t read whatsoever – and not basically from a lack of time, either.
Books as mere decoration – is it any big surprise that a humble wine holder should not be far behind?
Of course, many who own books or a wine rack are certainly true connoisseurs, as the whole practice was only established with such people in the first place.
But it is not uncommon for people to affect interests, opinions, or even outright behavior just because it is fashionable.
Therefore in this new millennium everyone is to be a foodie, with the wine rack serving as a sign of improved taste.
Affecting a fondness for books and ideas is so yesterday; to truly be fashionable means restaurant hopping as much as bar hopping.
